Select Board · Meeting of July 1, 2026
Brookfield's Select Board approved a new 10-year license for Apple Country Radio and wrestled with mounting Gay Road paving costs. The license, capped below a $35,000 procurement threshold, now runs July through June and lets the town cancel without cause; station representative Sharon said, "We've come to an agreement." The board signed a new contract for Interim Town Administrator Blythe Robinson and voted to have her research options for the old roller rink property after Clerk Beth L. Coughlin warned, "I don't think we can do that with good conscience, knowing what we know," citing an archaeological survey.
Gay Road's paving contract, originally $969,555, has grown to roughly $1,058,000, with contractor Mass Broken Stone quoting $120,000 to finish the work. The board appointed former Highway Superintendent Herb Chaffee to advise on paving and voted 3-0 to enter executive session on police union bargaining.
