Select Board · Meeting of August 26, 2026

Brookfield Select Board sends water system contract out to bid and forms a highway search panel. The board, meeting jointly with the Board of Assessors, unanimously approved a bid package for a water system operations contract structured as a one-year deal with two possible one-year renewals through September 30, 2027. Members also voted to seat a five-member Highway Department search committee, naming Herb Chafee, Roger Mundell and a resident surnamed Clark alongside the town administrator as an ex-officio member, after describing the town as "at the very beginning of our journey" rebuilding the department.

The board flagged two stalled Hilltop Repair invoices, for $812 and $8,600, held up over missing service dates, and ratified use of its existing paving contractor for Gay Road top-coat work funded through Chapter 90. After a closed-door executive session on non-union personnel matters, the board voted to authorize town counsel to adjust the town administrator's contract and let the chair sign it.
