Brookfield redoes a flawed Board of Health vote and reshapes a highway superintendent search panel. Meeting jointly and battling videoconference trouble, the Select Board and Board of Health rescinded a July 29, 2026 vote appointing a member identified as "Pam," then unanimously re-appointed Pamela Fitzgerald with a proper roll call, citing Massachusetts Open Meeting Law requirements for joint and remote sessions. The Select Board, with members Coughlin and Campbell voting aye throughout, also appointed Jeffrey Taylor as building inspector through June 30, 2029.
Board members expanded the planned Highway Department Superintendent Search Committee from three to five residents, adding the town administrator as a nonvoting, ex-officio member, and stripped out a duty requiring the committee to inventory department equipment after a prospective member, Bruce, said he would serve only if that task were dropped.
