Select Board · Meeting of August 5, 2026
Brookfield Select Board authorizes highway hiring screen, interviews town administrator finalist. The board voted unanimously to let Town Administrator Blythe Robinson begin phone screens for vacant highway operator and highway superintendent jobs, after Clerk Beth Coughlin proposed recruiting former staffers Bruce Clark, Herb Chafee and Donald Herbert for a search committee and Vice Chair Richard Chaffee objected that the process should be "open to everyone." CMRPC planners Charlotte Levitt and Will Talbot presented Brookfield's draft Hazard Mitigation Plan, open for public comment through August 17 ahead of FEMA review. The board also approved Weston & Sampson invoices and a Town Common request for an October 24 Blessing of the Animals event.
Finalist Ryan, currently chief of staff to Gardner's mayor, told the board "we're always going to be ready for the snow," but members took no vote on the town administrator search, planning to reconvene Monday, August 10, at 6:45 p.m.
