Water · Meeting of February 11, 2026

BROOKFIELD — The Brookfield Water Commission confirmed a new primary operator starts February 23 under a three-year contract, ending a staffing gap left by the prior operator. New Town Administrator Bob Ayers, attending his first water meeting, said "I'm here to help the town. I'm not here to hurt anybody." Commissioners said a town change cutting the department's solar-credit allocation from 14 percent to 7 percent forced a new $10,000 utility line item, and warned of a rate increase likely this fall after a spring public hearing.

Grant writer Lynn outlined a possible $150,000 USDA grant for a water-line connection to East Brookfield and a $10,000 "Maya" grant for pump-station security cameras. Commissioner Bob Barnes remains out after fracturing his hip. The commission voted unanimously only to adjourn at 12:50 p.m.
